May 28th EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE BRIEFS

Executive Committee received reports from four Citizens Advisory Committees.

PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Although the ice is no longer operational in their facilities, the committee reviewed the City ice policy at the Kinsmen and PlaMor Palace facilities. It is reviewed on an annual basis.

Changes recommended include reducing the age of a minor from 19 years of age and under to 18 years of age and under. A minor organization would be defined as having all participants 18 and under on December 31st of the current season.

Also considered to be changed were ice return times.

Additionally, signage was to be erected to show current safety regulations and departmental contact information.

YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Committee discussed AXIS/Global Warming.

The Committee also made a recommendation to City Council to remove the use of single use plastic shopping bags.

SPECIAL NEEDS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

An initiative was discussed regarding having people with disabilities help other people with disabilities use public transit.

An educational information night for September 27th for people with disabilities was discussed.

HERITAGE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

A tour of the clock at City Hall has led to a recommendation that in 2019 the City budget for repairs.

An update was given on the historic bell and a potential new place to install it.

A tour of the CPR clock was canceled due to safety concerns. There is also water leakage to bricks near the clock.
